A European based not‐for‐profit center of expertise for service delivery and transparency across the technology and data supply chains. Its key objective is to create, maintain and promote high quality technical building blocks towards a shared open infrastructure at global scale — a technology stack available to anyone to host or self-host services, developed in the public interest. Edsger aims to bring together and empower aligned experts and stakeholders from across the software supply chain, and jointly strenghten our information society.
We develop free and open source software to unburden others. Whether you want to run internet services or sell devices containing free and open source components, a proper understanding of what you are precisely running is of critical importance. This doesn't just hold at the technical level but also is directly impacted by legislation like the European Cyber Resilience Act and equivalent legislation elsewhere in the world. Such legal frameworks mean a shift in paradigm for the global software and services industry, yet most service providers currently do not have a clue what is about to hit them. Moreover, even though there may be willingness to act in a timely manner, due to cascading dependencies the issue is almost never possible to solve locally — without collaboration with the rest of the software supply chain you won’t get far. The Edsger Institute is set up to be of help, and provide practical tools and services to strenghten the ecosystem.
Do you share our ambition? Edsger Institute is eager to partner up with new organisations, and together with you make sure that the future of technology is a successful collaborative effort — not a competition.
